LA VIS, a duo created by Viva Sanchez Reinoso and Pierre Dunand Filliol focalises it's productions on experimental and improvised music in a variety of venues - let us quote the DAF Festival 2019 (Geneva), at Librairie HUMUS (Lausanne, 2019), Athénée 4, May 21 (Genève), during the Festival of Improvised Music of Lausanne (FMIL summer of 2021). The LA VIS duo also payed at the vernissage organised by the Grimaces éditions (API; Geneva 2020) for the publication of an audio-book (livre-audio) 'Mouvement imaginaire' (see below).
La VIS' creations are built through a sustained practice of improvised instrumental and electronic music projects based on the research & workouts of modes of play within a setting that includes the prepared piano, it's sampling, amplification and signal processing in real time in various live electronic settings. In the specific domain of electroacoustic music, LA VIS takes advantage of the ressources of graphic scores played within a framework including modular synthesis and DIY instrument alongside the piano.
The duo's attention to detail has brought it to steer an in-depth analysis of the sampled sound – it's 'WSP' (Well Sampled Piano) Project, an ongoing examination and collection of musical objects. The artists do multiple recording sessions using a variety of capture modes spanning from traditional aerial quality mikes to low-fi gear (contact and electroacoustic captors). The resulting samples are then reorganised and composed into musique concrète tapes and objects sonores used as audio score organising further musical interpretation performances.
Special emphasis is given at each concert on the interactions between the acoustic colours of the locations where the artists play and their instrumental stage setting.
It's worth mentioning that the duo also offers master-classes on their research to further analysis, exchange and disseminating their sound exploration & experimentation.
Composé de Viva Sanchez Reinoso et Pierre Dunand Filliol, le duo La Vis a conçu et produit plusieurs projets de musique expérimentale - au DAF Festival 2019 (Genève), à Librairie Humus (Lausanne), à l’Athénée 4, le festival makaronic (Genève), au FMIL (Festival des musiques improvisées de Lausanne) 2021 et pour un vernissage aux Grimaces éditions à l’API (Associaition du patrimoine indistriel, Genève) à l’occasion de la parution d’un ‘livre-audio’.
Ses créations gravitent autour des musiques improvisée et électroniques issues de recherches particulières tant sur les modes de jeu que sur la préparation, la captation et l’augmentation du piano. Dans le domaine de l’improvisation électroacoustique, citons ses travaux à partir de partitions graphiques utilisant la synthèse modulaire et des lutheries alternatives.
Sur le plan de l’enregistrement sonore, le projet « WSP » (Well Sampled Piano) s’intéresse depuis plusieurs années au piano préparé et échantillonné. Les deux artistes font des séries d'enregistrements de l'instrument par le moyen de captations multiples et non-conventionnelles pour composer des pièces concrètes constituées de sons fixés ou objets sonores. Ils mènent ensuite un travail d'interprétation sur ces formes qui fonctionnent comme un fil guidant l’écoute et l’improvisation.
L’accent mis sur la diffusion et la spatialisation par haut-parleurs en interaction avec les lieux de diffusion fait du concert un évènement global variable selon les lieux.
